Enjoy 3 days/2 nights exploring the southeastern Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, arguably one of the most bio-diverse and untouched areas of the world.
After a quick flight from Lima (or Cusco) and a motor canoe ride up the river, we arrive at a wonderful eco-lodge, our base for the next 3 days of unforgettable adventure and exploration. The rustic and comfortable eco/expedition lodge is situated in a lush and beautiful rainforest setting and was built using native architectural techniques and local materials (principally wood, palm fronds, bamboo and clay). Located in the most diverse and beautiful section of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, the area is home to a staggering variety of animals, including giant river otters, monkeys, countless birds of a seemingly unlimited number of different colors, and of course the perennial local favorite; the brightly colored macaw lick parrots.
For 3 days expert naturalist guides will enthusiastically share their vast knowledge of the local tropical ecology, wildlife behavior, and medicinal plants while leading exciting treks through the protected reserve. Their uncanny skills of finding the naturally camouflaged wildlife and identifying the hundreds species of plants and animals are legendary. Adding their insights into the ancient native Amazonian culture and the critical role that the Amazon plays in Earth’s natural cycles, they will leave you with a new and profound appreciation for this threatened natural jewel.

Trip Itinerary:
Day 1:
LIMA (or CUSCO) to PUERTO MALDONADO AND TAMBOPATA
Bright and early, you will transfer to the airport in Lima (or Cusco if you are visiting Machu Picchu) for the short, but exciting flight over the Peruvian Andes to the Amazon Rainforest village of Puerto Maldonado. Upon arriving, you will be transferred to the river port for an equally exciting motor canoe ride to a fantastic eco-lodge located in the Tambopata National Reserve. The afternoon will be spent with your guide, as he/she takes you on a nature walk and a canoe excursion through the rainforest. Here your guide will introduce you to the diverse and plentiful ecology of this vast and important jungle and you'll have ample opportunity to view the numerous indigenous birds and animals that call this great rainforest home. Overnight in the jungle lodge. (Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Day 2:
TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE
Waking to the musical and unforgettable sounds of the jungle, the day will be spent exploring the wonders of the Tambopata National Reserve with your guide. Being one of the most wild, untamed, and uninhabited hotspots of our planet, the viewing possibilities are as varied as they are virtually endless. Overnight in the jungle lodge. (Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Day 3:
TRIP ENDS - TAMBOPATA, PUERTO MALDONADO to LIMA
With the morning free, you can relax and take in the jungle from the lodge or opt for another jungle and/or river excursion with the guide. At the scheduled time, you will again be transferred to Puerto Maldonado via motor canoe and further transferred to the airport for your return flight to Lima. Your adventure ends at the Lima airport where you can transfer to your evening international flight OR, even better, continue with another one of our great adventures such. (Breakfast is included)
NOTE: flights to Puerto Maldonado can also go to and/or from Cusco if you are combining this extension with a trip to Machu Picchu.
