Day 1
Arrive in Shannon. Cliffs of Moher visit.
Welcome to Ireland. Upon arrival you are met at the airport (see note below) and we will go straight to visit the Cliffs of Moher, stretching almost five miles and over 700 feet above the Atlantic Coast: an incredible vista awaits you. In late afternoon we will check into our hotel in Limerick.
At night you can join the group as we visit a local pub for an optional dinner and get to know your fellow trip mates.
NOTE: your flight must arrive at the latest by 7:00 AM on day one (July 15) if you want to join the group to the Cliffs of Moher. It is highly recommended that you arrive one day early so that you can experience the Cliffs of Moher and so that you can get used to the time zone change. Please contact the Global Expeditions Club at 617.645.7689 or info@GlobalExpeditionsClub.com if you would like information/advice on booking an extra night hotel.
Day 2
Killarney. Blarney Castle/Stone. Blarney Woolen Mills. (B)
Starting off the day after a hearty Irish breakfast, we head out south towards County Cork for a visit to Blarney Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. We will also stop at the Blarney Woolen Mills to shop before continuing on to bustling Killarney. The town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs and open, cheerful atmosphere, full of what the Irish call “craic!” – Gaelic for fun. Tonight we will head out into town for some good old fashioned Irish fun with our fellow club members.
Day 3
Ring of Kerry tour (B)
Getting a bright and early start, we will travel the road that winds around the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula, better known as The Ring of Kerry. It is undoubtedly one of the most magical places in all of Ireland. Here mountains, valleys, lakes and sea blend into a landscape that is breathtaking beyond words. A number of stops will allow us to marvel at the spectacular scenery; exploring Torc Waterfall, walking around the colorful village of Sneem and pausing at Moll's Gap for amazing views of the Lakes of Killarney. Later we will return to Killarney, where the balance of the day is free to explore the delightful town.
Day 4
Rock of Cashel. Dublin city tour (B)
We depart from Killarney early this morning and travel towards Dublin, via the small town of Cashel where you will have a photo stop and a chance to view the unforgettable Rock of Cashel. The dramatic limestone rock crowned with secular and religious buildings dominates the flat countryside for miles around. Travel on through the Curragh, the heart of Ireland’s equestrian country, and arrive in Dublin early this afternoon.
Upon arrival, we will enjoy a panoramic city tour, introducing Dublin’s grand architectural treasures, beautiful Georgian squares and history stretching back more than 1,000 years. You will then have some free time to enjoy the city to shop and grab some dinner. Tonight you can choose to join the group as we explore some of Dublin’s many lively pubs in the Temple Bar area.
Day 5
Free day Dublin. Walking tour of Dublin (B)
Today is a free day to spend as you like. Venture off with your new friends or join the club leader on an informal walking tour of some of Dublin’s treasures, including a visit to the Guinness Brewery (admission not included), Brazen Head - Ireland’s oldest pub, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, and other famous sights.
Day 6
Free day Dublin (B)
Today is your chance to join the club leader and take the optional day tour through the Wicklow Mountains (option available on check out). With their breathtaking views, quaint villages and 6th century monastery, County Wicklow is a gem of the Irish countryside and a sight not to be missed. Or you can choose to remain in Dublin to continue exploring this famous and wonderful city. Ideas are to visit Dublin Castle, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Grafton St shopping district which is full of interesting shops and pubs, etc. Either way, tonight we will get together for an informal and optional group dinner and night out.
Day 7
Trip ends after breakfast (B)
Today your Global Expeditions Club group tour ends after breakfast.
