Starting and ending in Marrakech, join the group and travel from exciting Marrakech, through Casablanca and Fez, all along visiting beautiful palaces, ancient markets, and the amazing Atlas Mountains.

Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech.
Day 2: Free day to explore Marrakech. (B)

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1
Arrive in Marrakech

Arrive at the hotel in Marrakech. If you purchase the airport transfer (highly recommended) then you are met at the airport and transferred to the group hotel and given instructions for the group orientation. Here you will have a chance to meet your local guide and your fellow members who you will be traveling with. Today most will be strangers, but by week’s end they will feel like friends for life!

Day 2
Free Day to Explore Marrakech

Today is a leisure day to relax by the pool or explore the wonderful city of Marrakech with some of your fellow travel mates. Don't forget to take the time to wander through the world famous market in Marrakech. There are an amazing amount crafts people selling a huge variety of unique gifts and crafts. It'll keep you busy all day.

Day 3
Day tour of Marrakech (B)

After breakfast, the group will spend the entire day with your local guide exploring Marrakech, the second Imperial City and definitely the Pearl of the south. Marrakech sits in a lush Oasis nestled at the foot of the snowcapped Atlas Mountain. Visit the famous Saadien Tombs, the Dar Si Said Museum, the Koutoubia Tower and the Bahia Palace.

After lunch we will visit of the Souks and the medina, an exciting and exotic labyrinth where small shops are lined one next to the other selling Moroccan handicrafts. Feeling as if time has stopped here, the Souks are bustling with shoppers buying their goods and the craftsmen working in the most traditional ways. We will then visit the famous Djemaa El Fna Square, a unique square filled with animated jugglers, story-tellers, snake-charmers, and many other show men who entertain the crowds. Here you will have free time to stroll among the locals. It'll be an exciting day and certainly one of the highlights of the trip!

Day 4
Marrakech to Casablanca (B)

After breakfast, depart for Casablanca with your guide. Arriving in Casablanca, you'll embark on a city tour of Casablanca, the economical capital of Morocco, visiting the Central Market, The Habbous district, the Royal Palace, Mohamed V Square, the residential area of Anfa and the outside of the mosque Hassan II.

For dinner, be sure to check out the La Squala restaurant within the wall of an old fort. After, stroll up the street for a drink at the famous Rick's Cafe, scene of the famous Casablanca movie.

Day 5
Casablanca to Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis and Fez (B)

Early in the morning you'll travel from Casablanca to Rabat, where we will visit the Royal Palace (Mechouar), the Quadaya Kasbah, Mohamed V Mausoleum and Hassan Tower Mosque.

Leaving Rabat, you'll travel through the mountains to Fez, stopping at Meknes. Here we have an orientation tour of this Moroccan Versailles, which was founded at the end of the 17th Century by Moulay Ismail a contemporary of Louis XIV. We then continue to Moulay Idriss, the holy city, for an orientation tour followed by a visit to the Roman site in Volubilis, dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries. We then travel to the famous city of Fez.

Day 6
Day tour of Fez (B)

After breakfast, we take a full day tour of Fez with our local guide. Fez is the oldest of the imperial cities, home of the oldest university of the country, and is Morocco's leading cultural and religious center. Founded in 789, Fez is one of the oldest and largest medieval cities in the world; a city that is almost unchanged through the modern ages and still most definitely alive. History has provided the city with long periods of hardship, but Fez has never died. Today it has its own culture, pride, art and even cuisine. In Fez, we will visit the medieval Medina, the Medersas, The Karaouine, and the Nejjarine fountains. We will also explore the celebrated Souks where craftsmen still labor in the age old oriental tradition.

Day 7
Fez to Marrakech via Atlas Mts. (B)

This morning we make our way to Marrakech passing over the Atlas Mountains via the Berber village of Immouzer du Kandar, Ifrane and take our lunch in Beni Mellal, one of the agricultural centers of Morocco. We arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

The remainder of the evening is spent at leisure. Why not visit the markets again and enjoy one last night of fun with your new found friends.

Day 8
Marrakech - Trip Ends (B)

Trip ends after breakfast. If you'd like to stay an extra day in Marrakech, you can purchase an extra night hotel during the check out process.

If you purchased the airport transfers, you are picked up at the hotel at the appropriate time and transferred to the airport to catch your flight home.

This is a locally guided Global Expeditions Travel Club group trip that is open to anyone, including those booking outside the club.

Prices are based on double occupancy. If you would like your own hotel room, please choose the optional single supplement at check out. If you do not mind being paired up with a roommate of the same gender, then the single supplement does not apply.

At the time of printing, Visas are not required for US citizens visiting Morocco and staying less than 90 days. Please be sure to check with the Moroccan embassy in the US (or your country of citizenship) before the trip to ensure that this is still the case.
